Science Stories Africa is the first communication initiative to ever take science to the theater in sub-Saharan Africa. The historical feat was attained on June 22, 2019 when the  maiden edition (SSA1) was unveiled at the National Theater in Kampala, Uganda. The event, just like subsequent ones, was a mix of scientists sharing their science journey through story telling coupled with entertainment in a theater before a live audience. SSA1 was a great success that fascinated many science and story lovers. All SSA events run under a theme that underpins the stories told. SSA1 was under the theme, “I almost Gave up.” Scientists thus focused on that difficult moment during their science journey when they almost gave up but did not. You can find the stories from the inaugural night here

The second edition (SSA2) was held on November 22, 2020 themed, “The Unbelievable”. Five incredible stories of scientific breakthroughs that were unbelievable at the moment, were told. It was the first online edition due to the COVID-19 pandemic which continues to rage around the world.  This allowed science to go beyond the walls of the theater as it presented a chance to a wider audience to tune in from the comfort of their homes.
